CENTURY LIBRARY WORKSHOPS
The Stanford-California State Library Institute on 21st Century
Librarianship is pleased to present a series of workshops on "Building
the 21st Century Library" during 2000-2001. The workshops are funded by a grant from the California State Library with Library Services and Technology Act funds.
Each workshop will be presented multiple times throughout
the state, in the Sacramento, San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego areas.

library buildings, featuring James Barrentine of Information Partners,
technology planning consultant, and Jeffrey Scherer and Pat Fitzgerald of
the nationally known architectural firm of Meyer, Scherer & Rockcastle Ltd
in Minneapolis, which has extensive experience in library design.

The Stanford-California State Library Institute on 21st Century Librarianship is pleased to present a one-day workshop focusing on library needs assessments and building programs, featuring David Smith, nationally known library facility planning consultant and James Barrentine of Information Partners, technology planning consultant.
The workshop will cover the key aspects of developing a library needs assessment for a new facility and how to create a library building program. The workshop will include a specific focus on how to integrate technology assessment and planning into the building program.

PUBLIC LIBRARY - SCHOOL LIBRARY COOPERATIVE AGREEMENTS AND PROJECTS

A one-day workshop focusing on cooperative agreements and
projects between public libraries and public schools, featuring Dr. Kenneth Haycock, Professor and DirectorUniversity of British Columbia School of Library, Archival & Information Studies.
The workshop is intended for California public library managers and
administrators, community members, local officials and school district
administrators and site staff that are interested in cooperative projects. The workshop will cover existing cooperative
project models, including co-location of facilities and cooperative activities, a general overview of the library building planning process, with particular emphasis on issues relevant to co-located facilities, such as siting, security and access, and an overview of cooperative legal operating agreements. There will also be a general introduction
and update on the bond act.
