Connie Barrington Hello folks. I am posting a longer bio because I discovered my abbreviated version did not make it onto the web page. My previous entry was so brief because I just assumed a new job as of June, that of the County Librarian for Imperial County, California. We are the desert area in the southeast corner of the state. I've been so swamped I've been lucky to come up for air. Prior to assuming that position I was the Asst. Director of a small municipal library, Brawley Public. There I worked with programming (videoconferencing, the book discussion group for adults -- which I always want to call an adult book club, but am afraid folks will believe it is X-rated -- and children's programs), as well as grant-writing, bibliographic instruction and networking with the schools, the Chamber, etc. I spent several years working at Camarena Memorial Library, a public library just blocks from the border of Mexico, as the Children's and Reference Librarian. I also had a brief stint as a part-time reference librarian at our local San Diego State University campus. Before getting my MLS and my school-library media teacher credential, I taught school. I've worked with literacy programs, both in and out of schools and libraries. Reading is a passion (that's a big surprise, right?!) as is travel. I'm also learning to enjoy gardening and even have a successful cactus garden. I've found they thrive on semi-neglect. I am really enjoying the opportunity to meet all of you and apologize for the belated "real" biography". Connie Barrington
