Elizabeth Blackman

Elizabeth Blackman Greetings. I am Elizabeth Blackman, Program Manger for the Institute. This has been the beginning of a wonderful new adventure for me as I am a recent arrival to the State of California, Stanford University, and the world of librarians. I have had the opportunity to travel to Northern and Southern California and meet many delightful librarians at our workshops who have helped bring me on board.

Before venturing to the West, I was employed by an international helicopter company in Lafayette, LA -- Petroleum Helicopters, Inc. Riding in a helicopter and looking at the earth from that angle was truly a different perspective on the world! Here I was -- part of the team in public relations and involved in guest relations, marketing, coordinating arrangements/logistics for trade shows and industry meetings, assisting with press releases and corporate volunteering/fundraising.

In the 90's I returned to college and completed my degree in Liberal Arts at Loyola University in New Orleans, became board certified in counseling and practiced in this field until 1996. As a counselor, I have had the privilege of working with clients and groups to incorporate art, music and drama in therapy sessions.

I love California and especially enjoy being with my family here. There is a new grandbaby!
