Shannon S. Burchard

Shannon Burchard All I can say is "WOW". This is looking like it will be one of the most interesting and exciting experiences of my professional life so far.

I have been working in libraries for about twelve years now, the last five as a professional. I started working in Tech Services while a student at the University of California, Riverside. After graduation I moved to San Francisco and began working at the University of San Francisco Law Library as an Acquisitions assistant. While there, I commuted to San Jose State University and received my MLIS in December of 1995. With my MLIS in hand, I traveled east to the University of Delaware as a serials librarian. After two years of working for the best boss ever (Josie Williamson will always hold a special spot in my heart), the call of California was just too great for my husband and I (we are both California natives). I then became the electronic services / systems librarian at the San Francisco Law Library. After two years, the complete automation of the library, and the birth of my son, I felt I needed to move on. This brings me to where I am now, back at the University of San Francisco Law Library as the technical services librarian. I come back to USF in a new library building and with a desire to reinvigorate our services and to think beyond the box.

I look forward to meeting everyone in August and may see some of you at ALA.
