Stephanie R. Davis My name is Stephanie Davis and I'm one of the new librarians. I'm the
Social Work Librarian at the University of Southern California in downtown
LA, a position I've held for about 7 months. Before that, I was Assistant
Director of Leavey Library at USC, and Research Services Coordinator at
Leavey. I graduated from the library school at the University of Illinois
in 1998, where I was fortunate to meet some great people who continue to
be colleagues and friends. In fact, we all comment how we took our
similar graduate degrees in extremely different and interesting
directions. I think it's one of the strengths of the degree and the
field. My job consists of reference, instruction and collection development for social work, and I'm a member of the library faculty's Executive Council. I'm also co-chair of the Reference Task Force for the libraries on-campus. I'm really looking forward to the Institute! And I'll be at ALA and I'd love to meet others who will be there. I love going to movies, especially in the fantastic theatres in the LA area, trying new restaurants (just tried Ethiopian recently, great!), reading mysteries and biographies, and I'm a huge Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan. I also love to travel, although I haven't done much beyond traveling for conferences lately. I'm newly married (as of May 5), and will be going on my honeymoon in early July to Australia (two weeks, starting in Sydney, then up to Caines, and ending in Melbourne). It's going to be amazing! I'm really looking forward to meeting all of you in person and working with you during the Institute! See you soon!
