Ginny Evans-Perry

Ginny Evans-Perry I am Ginny Evans-Perry, the Technology Manager at the San Bernardino Public Library, in sunny San Bernardino, CA. I am a new librarian, and this is my first professional, full-time position. I started in February 1999. I attended Fullerton Campus of the San Jose State MLIS program.

Ed Erjavek, who is also attending the Institute, along with a whole team of dedicated folks, have worked hard to launch our library into the modern computer age. When applying for the position originally, I knew that part of the job was to include bringing up the first online catalog and felt it would be a great project. However, I had no idea what a BIG project this would turn into. We now have a network, LAN, WAN, public computers, web-based databases, PAC stations, etc. It has been non-stop, fun and incredibly challenging. Every day I am grateful and pleased at the opportunity to do good work that I can truly believe in. Not to say that it has all been easy!!

Before I became a "library lady," I worked on a grant project in the School of Education at Cal State San Bernardino and, before that, I worked in insurance/pensions in Los Angeles. I was born in Oakland and raised in Fremont. Although I have not lived in the Bay Area since 1978, I still enjoy any chances to visit.
