Gale Farthing

Gale Farthing I'm Gale, branch manager of the Scotts Valley library in the Santa Cruz city/county library system. I earned my MLS at the University of Michigan in 1980, and have worked in most aspects of public libraries from children's to cataloging in Chicago, Jefferson City, MO and several libraries in the Monterey Bay area of California. I also am the fiction selector for the Santa Cruz system.

I live in Aptos, CA, with my husband, two cats and a standard poodle. I have a stepson in college and two grown daughters, one in LA and one in St. Louis. I have been a jazz programmer on public radio and a guide at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, but am currently taking a short break from volunteer activities.

Besides reading and listening to music I love traveling. Last year we took the whole family plus a few assorted friends to Britain for six weeks, starting out in London and ending up in Edinburgh for the Festival. It was wonderful!

I'm looking forward to meeting you all, and I will be at ALA.
