Karen Joseph-Smith

Karen Joseph-Smith I'm Karen Joseph-Smith. I am a public librarian for the Berkeley Public Library in Berkeley, California. I graduated from USC library school in 1978 and have been a librarian for the last twenty-two years. During my career in library services I have worked in several public and community college libraries in the Bay Area and have had the opportunity to work in a variety of different areas as well -- reference, branch services, literacy, and technical services. Currently, I am the branch head at the Claremont Branch Library near the U.C. campus at the southeast end of Berkeley.

When I'm not hard at work at the library I like to work in my garden and swim a few laps at the pool. I have heard many praises about the Stanford Institute on 21st Century Librarianship and I am honored to be a part of this year's group. I look forward to meeting you all in person this weekend.
